Naoko Maeshiba/Kibism presents a solo and an ensemble piece:
Paraffin (an excerpt): Inspired by the timeless quality of paraffin paper and Kobo Abe's "The Woman in the Dunes", Maeshiba's ensemble piece. Paraffin is a dance theatre that investigates the subliminal forces of formulas that affect our body and mind. In the sensual and fiery landscape, body reveals ‘unspeakables' and ‘invisibles,' shedding light on the deep and dark places of our souls. Paraffin takes you through an exquisite and hypnotic landscape charged with intense physicality.
Maeshiba's new solo, Face of Another captures a sense of displacement and search for eternity in nothingness. Fluctuating on the boundary between reality and illusion, the familiar and the unknown, the past and the present, and life and death, the delicate balance tips and breaks into each other, revealing the origin of loneliness, desire, and fear in her body.

Multi-media dance and improvisation artist Sharon Mansur will share two works:
semblance is a series of glimpses, intimate and often startling musings on the elusive nature of feminine identity, featuring Sharon Mansur, Erica Rebollar, Marcy Schlissel and Ginger Wagg as well as six undergraduate students from the University of Maryland. The development of semblance is supported by a University of Maryland Creative and Performing Arts Award.
Through an evocative multi-media environment of movement, photos, and video here/there…(for one) is an improvisational solo directed and performed by Sharon Mansur that contemplates the human figure in relation to landscape, mingling presence and absence in relation to one woman's sense of place in the world.
