Have Facebook and Twitter forever changed human to human connections? California-based choreographer Benjamin Levy explores how social networking sites and other technological innovations impact our interpersonal connections in a new work, Everyone Intimate Alone Visibly, premiering at Dance Place.

The evening-length duet, a first for the choreographer, features Levy and dancer Aline Wachsmuth performing in the round amidst a multimedia installation created by new media artist Mary Franck and composer Jeremy Zuckerman. The audience will be encouraged to walk through space and interact with the dancers and technology. The result is a truly collaborative performance where the music, dancers, audience, and visual components will be equal players.

Franck uses web cameras to capture movements of the dancers and audience which then processes them through computer algorithms to create animations and video projections. Renowned composer Jeremy Zuckerman adds a multi-layered sonic environment to the work, created by a computer program which responds to the speed, intensity and emotional tenor of the dancer's movements.

Advisory: This performance is interactive, and the audience will be moving and walking through the space. Audience members will not be seated for the entire show. Accommodations can be made for elderly or disabled audience members by calling Dance Place in advance at 202-269-1600.

Advisory: There will be a strobe effect from the lights for this performance.
