Hyman M. Perlo Fund
The Hyman M. Perlo Memorial Fund for Education and Culture was established in 2006 to honor the life and passions of Hyman Perlo. He lived a life of service, scholarship, love and laughter, and was the kind of man that reached out to anyone in need. An active advocate for social change, Hyman believed in the positive force that education, the arts and sports have on creating a more humane society. At the very inception of Dance Place, Hyman lent his financial and spiritual support to his daughter and founder of the Dance Place, Carla Perlo. Throughout the years he continued to be a mentor and supporter of Dance Place's mission and ever expanding programs.
The Hyman M. Perlo Memorial Fund will help further his commitment, and honor his vision of a better society, by investing in our children and nurturing talent. Contributions will support extensive cultural endeavors and our "Next Generation" program for children and teens.
Dance Place Next Generation program includes:
Energizers Boys and Girls Club
Energizers Junior Staff
Energizers Summer Camp
Kids on the Move dance classes
Inreach performances for school children
Outreach performances and classes for schools
Work/Study scholarships for young adults
Internships in arts administration for college-age students
In addition the fund will help to commission new choreography and support the presenting of performing artists to the growing Metro area dance audience.
