Dance Place Seeks Grants Assistant

Dance Place, a nationally recognized cultural arts center in Washington, DC, seeks a part-time Grants Assistant to raise funds from government, foundation and corporate sources. This position reports directly to Dance Place’s Director of Development Judy Estey.

Gain experience with grant writing and management, fundraising strategies, best practices for non-profit fund development and the philanthropic landscape locally and nationally. An ideal candidate will be interested in pursuing non-profit administration as a long-term career as this position has the potential of growing into a full-time position. Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Proofread and contribute to grant writing
  • Track grant funds for expense reporting
  • Collect and create supporting materials
  • Organize grants solicitation timeline
  • Correspond with funders
  • Collaborate with Development and Marketing teams to plan special events and other initiatives as needed

Required Skills / Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Attention to detail with excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly organized, creative with deep enthusiasm for the arts

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field
  • Previous work in grants/development preferred but applicants with relevant experience and strong writing skills encouraged to apply
