Joy of Motion’s Mixed Movement
November 1 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm$15 - $30
Wednesday, November 1 at 8pm
Mixed Movement, hosted by Director of the Dance Institute at Joy of Motion Helen Hayes, includes three distinct works that illuminate the “life cycle” of the creative process. This evening of short, collaborative works begins with electric violinist David Schulman’s spontaneous and improvisational collaboration with two dancers. Uprooted Dance, a 2017-18 Joy of Motion Resident Company, then explores the process of revision in a new piece by Director Keira Hart-Mendoza titled “The Legacy Project – Our Lives of Consumption”. The evening concludes with the remount of an established work from DanceEthos (Tiffany Haughn, Founding Artistic Director). Throughout all three pieces, a visual artist creates work that directly responds to the music and movement onstage, capturing the artistic life cycle in tangible form. Join us for an evening that explores the intersection of different art forms in an immediate and accessible way.
