Matuto is a full time touring collective built around the core of Clay Ross (guitar) and Rob Curto (accordion).
Matuto’s music is all about the dance. On stage, the instruments swirl together, bobbing in and out, whirling around the tension at its core: the push and pull between the Latin syncopations of Brazilian roots music and the folk traditions of the American South. It’s Americana meets Brazil, an unlikely combination on paper, but on the dance floor it just feels right.
This event takes place on the Arts Walk at Monroe Street Market (716 Monroe St NE), just steps away from Brookland-CUA Metro (Red Line).
The rain location for this event will be Artist Lounge at Monroe Street Market (716 Monroe St NE)
Matuto is supported by the American Music Abroad program (AMA). AMA is a people-to-people cultural exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in partnership with American Voices.
