Sean Dorsey Dance
May 20 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 7:00pm, repeating indefinitely
Saturday, May 19 at 8pm
Sunday, May 20 at 7pm
San Francisco-based transgender choreographer Sean Dorsey returns with Boys In Trouble, new dances about navigating queer and trans masculinities. As current events undermine LGBTQ communities across the US, Sean Dorsey Dance bites back with full-throttle dance, luscious queer partnering, highly-physical theater and storytelling that celebrates gender-expansiveness and rejects conformity.
In turns explosive, powerful, playful, vulnerable and sexy, Boys In Trouble takes a bite out of gender, whiteness, pack-animal thinking, conformity, queer love, trans peer pressure and being “butch” enough. With stark honesty, powerful storytelling and breathtaking dancing, BOYS BITE BACK moves audiences to examine their own assumptions and experiences of gender.
This presentation of Sean Dorsey Dance is funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, the New England Foundation for the Arts’ National Dance Project, the National Performance Network Creation Fund and Performance Residency Programs and the CenterStage at Reston Community Center.
