Dance Place Seeks a Facilities Manager

Dance Place, a nationally recognized cultural arts center in Washington, DC, seeks a part time Facilities Manager to help to maintain, clean and support our arts campus.  This is a 20 hour per week, year-round position, paid hourly, with opportunities for additional hours in other departments.  The Facilities Manager will report to Dance Place’s Operations Manager. Position Overview:

The Facilities Manager is a new position, responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of our arts campus, comprised of the Dance Place main building (including of our theater, lobby, dance studio, and offices), public spaces of the Brookland Artspace Lofts (including our dance studio, Creative Education Center, and office space), the 8th St Arts Park, and our intern housing.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards
  • General maintenance of all spaces
  • Coordinate and schedule Dance Place’s part time cleaning staff
  • Complete additional cleaning shifts
  • Coordinate supply orders with Operations Manager (paper goods, cleaning supplies, etc.)
  • Maintain relationships with all facilities vendors including HVAC, fire alarm, security, plumbing, roofing, etc.
  • Schedule seasonal and annual maintenance of HVAC, sprinkler, and other major systems
  • Ensure that the facility maintains compliance with fire code and other city regulations
  • Review utilities consumption and strive to minimize costs
  • Manage waste disposal
  • Manage building security
  • Manage repairs and renovations to the facility

Required Skills / Qualifications:

  • Experience in property management and maintenance
  • Well-versed in facilities management best practices
  • Attention to detail with excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and in teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly organized and creative with deep enthusiasm for the arts

Benefits and compensation:

  • Salary will be commensurate with experience. Pay will begin at $14 per hour.
