Dance Place Seeks Energizers Afterschool Manager

Dance Place, a nationally recognized cultural arts center in Washington, DC, seeks a part-time (20 hours / week) manager for its Energizers Afterschool Club program. This position reports directly to Dance Place’s Education Director Shannon Quinn.

Energizers Afterschool Club Program Description:

Youth (ages 7-12) participate every day after school in a creative education curriculum that includes dance, cooking, arts & crafts, horticulture, reading, writing and math. The program provides physical play, weekly dance classes, community service, homework help and more. The Energizers Afterschool Club meets Monday through Friday 4-6pm.

Areas of Responsibility

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Create and execute daily lesson plans with colleagues based on a set curriculum
  • Oversee and manage Energizers Afterschool Club youth leaders
  • Create and follow a program budget
  • Evaluate program using established tools
  • Work closely with Education Director on curriculum and evaluations
  • Keep track of program data for program reports
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Organize and process monthly tuition payments
  • Communicate and build relationships directly with participants and their families

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or comparative experience in youth education
  • Experience in youth leadership (grades 1-6)
