John K. Glenn has been exploring movement improvisation since 1987. Before moving to DC, he taught contact improvisation for Movement Research in New York City from 2001-04 and initiated a contact improvisation jam in Soho, which continues today. He has performed at the DC Improv Fest at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, the Arts on Foot Festival at the Warehouse Theater Gallery, the New York Improvisation Festival at Judson Church, PS122’s Hothouse, the Bowery Poetry Club’s Movement and Poetry Festival, the Culture Project, and the WOW Theater. From 1989-96, he performed with Paula Josa-Jones/ Performance Works, touring to the Joyce Theater in New York City, Dance Umbrella in London and Boston, Jacob’s Pillow, the Bates Dance Festival, as well as residencies at Wesleyan University, the Flynn Theater in Burlington, VT, and Trinity College. His training includes modern dance, contact improvisation, tap dance, and Alexander Technique.
