Work/Study
Become a work/study student and receive unlimited free classes in exchange for helping out at Dance Place a few hours a week or once a month.
Work/Study positions include studio manager, box office assistant, concessions, teaching assistant for youth dance classes and tech crew. Depending on the position and its specific requirements, Work/Study students work an average of 12 hours per month and varies amoung a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly commitment.
Dance Place is actively seeking work/study students to fill the following positions:
- Box Office Assistant – Assist Box Office Manager during weekend performances. (This position is a one weekend a month commitment.)
- Concessions – Sell snacks and drinks during weekend performances. and serve drinks for specific reception performances (This position is a one weekend a month commitment.)
- Theater Crew – Assists Technical Directors backstage with shows. (This position is either a one weekend a month commitment or every Thursday evening.)
Requirements
Six month commitment
Availability of time to focus on program
Interest in Dance Place classes and facility
Volunteer at Dance Place festivals (specifically our annual Gala Benefit and DanceAfrica, DC Festival)
Application Process

Obtain an application by either visiting Dance Place in person, calling the Work/Study Coordinator to organize delivery or by downloading it here.

Take four (4) classes at Dance Place. Three are of your choice and one must be with our Founding Director, Carla Perlo. These classes are at your cost. Free classes begin after being accepted to the program and work has begun.

Complete application form and list the four classes you took.

Return your completed application along with a resume and references. Materials can be dropped off, mailed or faxed to:
