Round Time is a striking and soulful aerial performance born of the urgent present from aerialist, Mara Neimanis (Air Heart, Naomi’s Flight, For That Which Returns, Swing, Baba Yaga). With performance partner Morgan Mincer, Neimanis creates a duet for two generations of airborne women, bearing aloft audio testimonies from community voices of women of many ages. Together, Neimanis and Mincer explore old cycles and new dynamics, as generations of women 30 years apart lift (fly) one another in troubled times. Created as a commission for The Cherry Arts in NY, with a grant from The National Endowment for The Arts and The NY State Counsel of The Arts.

The Storytelling Flying Body

Spin, float, and glide on low flying metal aerial sculptures and free float in aerial harness as vehicles to investigate physical play, presence, and telling your story. This workshop will focus on introducing participants to basic aerial improvisational technique with emphasis on physical organization and body awareness while investigating the receptive and expressive skills that deepen our connections to ourselves, our imaginations,  and to others. Participants will walk away with new found skills in physical communication, taking risks, gaining trust, being courageous, and finding the story you have in your body.

Mara Neimanis together with assistant,  Morgan Mincer uses a signature style of Apparatus Based Theatre to expose the range, power, and point of view of the individual student while building a bridge between theatre making, igniting a point of view, and civic life. In combination, Mara’s classes seek to build a new culture of creativity by evoking our commonality as well as our ability to fly…for real. Strength, risk, trust and flight come together as a way to define who we are to each other and agreements that we have through playing in a topography of ground and air.
