Deanna Woodman

Deanna Woodman (they/she) is the Operations & Rentals Manager at Dance Place. A California native based in DC since 2018, Deanna brings a background spanning research, program development, and community organizing across a variety of nonprofit organizations. They hold a bachelor’s from UCLA and a master’s from the University of Saint Andrews.

Deanna is also an active choreographer and performer in the DC dance scene, performing as a company member with SylviDances and as a guest artist with UpRooted Dance, Liberation Dance Project, Rae Gray Dance Collective, and Gallaudet’s Dance Company, among others. They have presented original choreographic works at NACHMO DC and the Dance Canvas Festival, and co-produced, choreographed, and performed in Explore, an interdisciplinary arts showcase. On screen, they have worked as a stunt performer in Francis Hamada’s Browncoat: Independence War, and have also served as co-host and producer of When Crit Happens, a D&D and entertainment podcast.

Outside the office, Deanna teaches dance at Unity Dance & Movement and works in community safety as an Unarmed Civilian Protection Officer with the DC Peace Team. At Dance Place, Deanna brings their full self — artist, organizer, and community member — grounded in the belief that art and operations are community-based acts of care.
