The Power of Us

The Power of Us affirms that change does not happen alone. Change is built collectively, through shared breath, shared rhythm, and bodies moving in relation to one another.

None of this season would be possible without the people who show up for it, night after night – our staff, teaching artists, classtakers, families, students, donors, and this community, who have carried Dance Place forward for 46 years. We know this place is only as strong as the people who choose to be part of it, and we don’t take that for granted. 

That’s why this season isn’t just a schedule of show – it’s a set on invitations to be part of what comes next:

• STORYTELLERS invites you back into the room for the mainstage work that has always defined this place, created by the artists whose stories deserve this stage.
• THRESHOLDS invites you onto the floor, into the social spaces where trust is built one shared dance, one shared night, at a time.
• PRESS START invites you into the process in which many of our residencies open their doors to community feedback, because we believe the work of rebuilding trust happens in the room, not just around it.
• EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING invites you onto the floor yourself –through classes and workshops taught by our resident and visiting artists, open to dancers of every level and background.
• FAMILY FRIENDLY invites the next generation in, because whatever changes at Dance Place, this remains a place where families build their first relationship to dance.

In a time that calls for connection and courage, The Power of Us honors the strength found in dancing together, the beauty of many bodies moving as one, and the transformative force that emerges when movement becomes a shared act of care, resistance, and joy.
