The 3rd Annual Latinx Movement Festival: AMÉRICAS AWAKENING is a multidisciplinary arts festival dedicated to uplifting contemporary Latinx/e artists through performance, education, and community engagement in Washington, DC. During Hispanic Latinx Heritage Month, this year’s theme, AMÉRICAS AWAKENING, explores migration, identity, protest, citizenship, belonging, and the political realities shaping communities across the Americas. The festival will feature new commissioned dance works, poetry, visual art installations, public discussions, and performances by both local DMV-based artists and national guest artists.

More than a performance event, the festival serves as a platform for cultural preservation, artistic experimentation, and collective dialogue. Through partnerships with scholars, poets, cultural organizations, and community leaders, the festival creates opportunities for audiences to engage with Latinx/e stories that are often overlooked in traditional arts spaces. At its core, the Latinx Movement Festival is building long-term infrastructure for Latinx movement artists while fostering community connection, visibility, and a more expansive understanding of Latinidad in Washington, DC.
