Image Description: Two dancers stand together on stage, one has their arms stretched out to embrace. Behind them, a large screen displays another two dancers; one is leaning on the other, who provides support. September 23 and 24 at 7pm
The Embassy of Sweden and Dance Place present Lay Him Quietly, choreographed by Hiroki Ichinose. This intimate dance duet explores the physical interaction between two men. The work explores how inherited cultural traditions and lived experiences, shaped at the intersection of queerness and race, settle within the body as a tender yet invisible weight that influences how we move, connect, and choose to love.
The atmosphere of Lay Him Quietly invites viewers into fragile, deeply personal moments that slowly unfold to reveal the breadth of the human experience we share. In a dynamic interplay between film and dance, dancers Hiroki Ichinose and Ninos Josef move between closeness and distance, exploring how profoundly personal stories of identity and love can ultimately speak to something universal.
