For more than 45 years, Dance Place has supported our community by creating opportunities for creative development, performance, and education. That has always been who we are, and that is who we will remain. As part of our preparation and launch for The Power of Us, our staff has spent much time to make this season the best yet:
- Over the summer, our staff has given over 100 hours supporting maintenance of our Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Theater, to keep it comfortable for classes and performances
- This fall, we introduced new offerings to our Adult classes, including House and Bellydance, and provided additional class times for our most popular Kids on the Move (KOM) classes
- We are excited to bring new artists and companies to our Theater, including In-Flight Theater and Hiroki Inochese (in partnership with the Embassy of Sweden)
- Over the course of this season, it is our joy to offer more than 250 hours of Technical, Space & Creative Residencies to artists
- We recently enrolled 15 students in our Teen Leaders program, where they will experience creative arts classes, life skills, artistic expression, and hands-on job training in leadership, administration, theater craft and arts education
But The Power of Us is incomplete without consistent dialogue with our community, the very people we exist for and with. Part of our mission is to serve our city and the arts community therein, which includes civic participation. Pathways Forward: A Dance Place Town Hall will be part of that effort to serve, as we believe open conversation is the first step of moving forward, together.
