Image Description: This promotional image for “BIGKID DANCE” and “Dance Place’s 45th Season” features two individuals, in a dramatic, close-up shot. Their faces are partially illuminated by warm, intense lighting, creating strong shadows. The person on the left is looking upwards with an open mouth, while the person on the right, looks wide-eyed with hands near their face. A large, golden “45” with sparkling accents is overlaid in the center. The top text reads “BIGKID DANCE” in gold. Vertical white text “HOME IS COMING” borders both sides, and “CELEBRATE DANCE PLACE’S 45TH SEASON” is at the bottom in white.

BIGKID DANCE, directed by Mark Caserta, presents If I Die Before the Revolution, an evening-length contemporary dance theater work. This piece acts as a fantastical farewell for queer individuals facing a collapsing world. It portrays a unique queer experience through fear, love, loneliness, death, and legacies. As time runs out, the ‘queer’ archetype confronts invisibility while fighting for their existence. This work honors and celebrates queer life in the face of overwhelming challenges.
If I Die Before the Revolution is also funded by the Carla Perlo Fund for Choreography & Performance, established by the Howard and Geraldine Polinger Family Foundation in 2017 to honor the career of Dance Place Founding Director Emerita Carla Perlo.
The Carla Perlo Fund for Choreography & Performance is intended to support the creation of new dance works and residencies at Dance Place. The Howard and Geraldine Polinger Family Foundation’s support ensures Dance Place’s continued ability to nurture outstanding artists and advance the field of dance.
