Dance Place’s resident dance companies offer modern dance, African dance, and step dance performances and are available for bookings for performances, residencies, and other engagements at theaters, schools, and other performance venues. The companies are based at Dance Place and perform regularly in the DC area and beyond.

Coyaba Dance Theater
Coyaba Dance Theater was founded in 1997 by Founder/Artistic Director Sylvia Soumah and performs traditional and contemporary West African dance and music focusing on the diverse ethnic groups and various humanitarian themes of West African culture.
Dance Place Step Team
The Dance Place Step Team has represented the best in youth talent since its inception in 2000, with members ages 10 and up. The vision of the Step Team and Artistic Director Donna Kearney is to maintain a core group of outstanding students who strive academically as well as theatrically to be their best.
ReVision dance company
Led by Led by Artistic Director Shannon Quinn, ReVision is a contemporary modern dance company committed to artistic excellence and community building. Through performances, workshops and teaching residencies, ReVision works with diverse populations of professional dancers and novice movers. A unique aspect of our work is our dedication to engaging people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
POP (People Objects Play)
Led by Carla Perlo, this intergenerational performance company utilizes objects such as stools, water bottles, balls, hula-hoops and more as the impetus for the movement. Themes such as balancing, partnering, rolling and throwing come together in a high energy performance that brings audience members into the action.

Founded in 2001 by Artistic Director Adrienne Clancy, ClancyWorks is committed to enhancing the quality of life for individuals in various communities using the arts as a vehicle to develop understanding and to advance positive social action – we aim to shift perceptions through performance. The contemporary dance company offers classes, performances and community outreach programs.
Culture Shock, Washington, DC
In a world where style and music are constantly changing, Culture Shock® choreography remains innovative and unique, resulting in a troupe of individuals who express Hip Hop in a style all their own. Culture Shock® DC has 135 dancers in five troupes based on age and experience. National and international dance instructors who introduce new and exciting choreography at our weekly company classes train our dancers in Hip Hop and American Street Dance.
DC Casineros is a world-renowned dance company that performs Cuban dance styles, including Rueda de Casino, Afro-Cuban rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Mambo, Danzon, and Yoruba Orisha dance. The company offers classes, private lessons and performances throughout the DC area. Their mission is to build healthy communities through the art and culture of Cuban dance.
